A big congratulations to Master KG for winning the Best African Act at the MTV European Music Awards (EMA’s) which were held on Sunday, the 8th of November. His international hit song Jerusalema featuring the vocalist Nomcebo won him this award.
Master KG thanked his legions of supporters around the world for making his victory possible. Artists who were up for the award are South African Amapiano duo DJ Maphorisa and Kabza de Small, Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Rema, Uganda’s songstress Sheebah and Gaz Mawete from the DRC.
The musician appreciated his fans during his acceptance speech saying his win wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for them.
“I would love to thank each and every person out there, all over the world, for making this possible. I just won the Best African Act at the MTV EMA’s. I would love to thank my sister Nomcebo Zikode, my team at Open Mic Productions. Everyone who is behind Master KG, thank you guys so much! To my fans all around the world, without you I don’t think this would be possible, ” he thanked his fans”
Minister of Sports, Arts And Culture in South Africa made Nomcebo and Master KG ambassadors to the world after their hit song put SA on the map.
He took to Twitter to congratulate the two, “We are exceptionally proud of our ambassadors, @MasterKGsa and @Nomcebozikode! Your patriotism shall go down the annals of history. Continue to pick up the fallen spears of your predecessors in representing our motherland in such a unifying and unprecedented manner.
His win was met with praises from fans who have handed the year 2020 to him. Many of the industry mates have congratulated Master KG for his big win.
An equally integral part in the making of the song, Nomcebo congratulated Master KG by saying, “Congrats choma @MasterKGsa for winning the best African act at the MTV EMA. I’m so proud of you my friend, here’s to many more.”
The producer shared two more milestones in his career, before scoring himself this EMA. First, he is featured at number one on a United Kingdom Top Ten music chart, beating fellow Africans like WizKid, Davido and Burna Boy. Master KG and the Nigerian superstar, Burna Boy have worked on collaboration before and remixed Master KG’s hit song, Jerusalema.“The advantages of working with him include that he has reached a level I am still working towards, so featuring him will expose me to a lot of people, including his market, which is obviously bigger than mine. People who didn’t know me will get to know me more.”
He also scored himself another international nomination for the NRJ Music Awards 2020. This year does belong to Master KG indeed!
