A Walk Down Memory Lane

Revisiting Franco  and the TP OK Jazz in their heydays

Arguably, Franco and Tout Puissant OK jazz  was one of the best bands that ever existed in Africa.

The band led by Luamba Makiadi, popularly known as Franco, transcended the Ok bar where the group was formed in 1957 and from whence the band got its name to establish itself as Africa’s premier band that dominated the music charts throughout the continent in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

At some point the OK jazz had over 20 talented members. Thanks to Franco’s brilliant leadership skills, the string of deflections that hit the group never really weakened the band as Franco was able to weather the storm of deflections.
